MADC

RE-IMAGINING HOW WE CELEBRATE CREATIVITY WITHIN MELBOURNE’S ADVERTISING COMMUNITY

In 2019, the Melbourne Advertising and Design Club needed a kick up the bum. The creativity industry had a soft spot for “MADC,” but things had gone quiet. So, a new committee was formed and I put my hand up to be co-Vice President.

First thing? Rebrand.

We changed the name from MADC to… MADC. From Melbourne Advertising and Design Club to Melbourne Advertising, Design and Creativity. Because we thought it should be bigger than just advertising and design.

Along with education courses, industry talks and student competitions, we reimagined the MADC Awards night to be one of the most memorable and most creative of any awards night on the planet.

On this page is the last awards promo MADC created during my tenure.

“The MADC has an astounding output for a small place where no one gets paid. So, to help lead it, you need inspiring, thoughtful, passionate, community-minded people that are quick on their feet with ideas, and who’s positivity is infectious. Thankfully, James is exactly that.”

Matt Lawson, CCO and Founder, ATime&Place, MADC co-President

“I was lucky to work with James, who led our creatives with strong ideas and strategic input. I can’t imagine bringing the MADC back to life without him.”

Simon Thomas, Executive Producer, GoodOil Films, MADC co-President
